Paul Cornell and Scott McDaniel created a three-issue arc before the new ongoing creative team, the former Green Lantern Corps duo of writer Peter Tomasi and artist Patrick Gleason, began their run with February 2011's issue #20. While writing for this title, Morrison simultaneously wrote the miniseries The Return of Bruce Wayne and finished his run on the title with issue #16, before moving onto the next phase of his narrative in Batman Incorporated.

Morrison returned to writing the characters after being the ongoing writer on Batman from issues #655–658 and #663–683. The conclusion of Battle for the Cowl shows Dick Grayson ascending to the role of Batman, while Damian Wayne becomes the new Robin. The debut of the series followed the events of ' Batman R.I.P.', Final Crisis, and ' Battle for the Cowl' in which the original Batman, Bruce Wayne, apparently died at the hands of DC Comics villain Darkseid and features the winner of the 'Battle for the Cowl' as the new Batman. I’m sure hardcore fans of Batman have already devoured this series, but for anyone who is looking for a good place to start reading a Batman series, this new hardcover collection is a solid pick.Batman and Robin is an American comic book ongoing series, created by Grant Morrison and featuring Batman and Robin. This is a definite treat for comic book fans. From the haggard look of Commissioner Gordon to the freakish faces of the circus folk terrorizing Gotham in the first issue, Quitely creates panels that wonderfully bring Morrison’s script to life. Quitely’s artwork keeps up with Morrison’s story. Don’t worry if you’re not a die-hard Batman fan - you might get a bit confused by character references, but it’s nothing a quick Wikipedia search can’t cure. From page one, the comic hits the ground running, bringing together plotlines from previous series. This applies to the ‘Batman Reborn’ collection - it’s gritty, it’s raw but it is oh so good. If you’re a comics fan, you’re probably familiar with Morrison’s work and know that his stories are not for the faint of heart. Together this pair attempts to make the world believe that Batman is alive and well (and Bruce Wayne is just out of town indefinitely).

Damian Wayne, Bruce’s estranged 10-year-old son who was raised by assassins, has put on the Robin outfit. Dick Grayson, the original Robin, has set aside his Nightwing costume and donned the Dark Knight’s cowl. The Caped Crusader is MIA (after an adventure in another Morrison series ended poorly) and presumed dead. That’s the very basic premise of the new Batman & Robin series, written by Grant Morrison and drawn by Frank Quitely. Batman is dead? I didn’t even know he was sick!
